Intermittent problems

Why does restarting the router fix the internet only temporarily?

A restart resets connections and internal state. If the problem returns, the restart is evidence of a recurring fault—not a complete solution.

What this symptom actually means

Restarting may refresh WAN sessions, DHCP state, Wi-Fi radios, DNS forwarding and overloaded processes at the same time. Because many variables change together, the improvement alone does not reveal which one failed.

What to check

  1. Record which devices and connection types fail before restarting anything.
  2. Check whether the router administration page remains reachable during the incident.
  3. Compare Wi-Fi and Ethernet, then test gateway, DNS and external HTTP separately.
  4. Note uptime, temperature, firmware version, connected-device count and the time pattern.
  5. Install supported firmware updates and preserve the provider configuration before performing a factory reset.

How Infrazoom can help

Capture a Quick Scan during the failure and another after recovery. A paired Appliance can retain continuous local evidence so the fault is recorded before the restart clears it.

When to escalate

Report the repeated pattern and evidence to the equipment supplier or provider. Replace hardware only when configuration, firmware and upstream causes have been reasonably excluded.

Infracheck provides diagnostic evidence and guidance. It cannot identify the owner of a nearby network, access your router administration account, or guarantee the cause of an intermittent provider fault from one scan.
