Intermittent problems
Why is Wi-Fi slower in the evening?
Evening slowdowns may be caused by more active home devices, busier neighboring Wi-Fi networks or congestion farther inside the provider network.
What this symptom actually means
The time pattern is useful evidence, but it does not identify the cause on its own. Neighboring networks mainly affect the shared radio spectrum, while provider congestion can also affect a wired test.
What to check
- Run the same tests at a quiet time and during the slowdown, from the same location and device.
- Check whether the problem also appears over Ethernet. If it does, Wi-Fi congestion is not the complete explanation.
- Pause cloud backups, game downloads, cameras and streaming devices during one controlled comparison.
- Record latency and packet loss as well as download speed. Interactive traffic can feel poor before headline bandwidth becomes very low.
- Keep dates, times and results so the provider receives a pattern instead of one isolated screenshot.
How Infrazoom can help
Save repeated Quick Scan and Wi-Fi Live results. A paired Appliance can provide continuous site-side history, which helps distinguish a phone-location problem from a network-wide evening pattern.
When to escalate
Send the provider wired evidence when both Ethernet and Wi-Fi degrade at similar times. Investigate access-point placement, bands and channel use when Ethernet stays healthy but wireless clients deteriorate.
Infracheck provides diagnostic evidence and guidance. It cannot identify the owner of a nearby network, access your router administration account, or guarantee the cause of an intermittent provider fault from one scan.
